Morning Has Broken (II)

By: Fransiskus Borgias M (EFBE@fransisbm)

(18-11-97):

Oh there are a lot of

insensitive individual arround me.

They are hollow person,

never go deeper in their reflection of life.

And because they never went deep enough inward,

what they found every day and every time was only themselves;

and of course in that meeting

they began to worry too much,

to worry almost about everything;

worry about their lives,

about their future,

even about their own past,

what they would leave behind for others to remember.

They stay on the surface level only.

And in that surface level,

they only saw their own mortality and fragility

as human being.

As a consequence of it

they were frightened at the brevity

and seeming futility of living.

They are afraif of the fact that

ars longa, vita brevis,

that the life of the individual is so short

compared to the perennial life and existence

of the art.

I was thinking of all these kind of people

as I stood steadily

atop the mountain Gunung Gede

while gazing upon the breathtaking

and wonderful panorama of the mountain slopes

and morning sunlight.

Everything was wonderful.

And “Morning has broken.”

I remembered this song sung by Cat Stephens,

a certain song

taken from the natural Celtic spirituality.

And I like that song very much

Especially when I am on a mountain top

like this morning.

While I sing it with my inner voice,

I saw the smile

of the mountain top of gunung Pangrango

Behind the morning misty sunrays.

How great Thou are

Oh Lord,

the Creator of everything.
